Rather smooth on lowest graphics settings. I tried making a gestrueworks gameplay controller, but again the pitfall is the restriction to a static d-pad for movement. HL2 is best with keyboard and mouse, okay with xbox controller. Played smoothly on lowest graphics settings. Getureworks devs say a joystick is high on their dev list, however. The biggest pitfall to the gestureworks solution is the lack of an assignable joystick it only has a static d-pad, meaning character movement isn't fluid or 100% reliable.

In regard to touch-only play, I managed to create a gestureworks gameplay controller for Marvell Heroes and it worked okay. Lego games were smooth and playable at lowest graphics settings. I can't remember what resolution, but Skyrim was technically playable at 15-20 FPS. Snes8X is a pretty good metro emulator, btw. Unfortunately, gestureworks gameplay doesn't work with most emulators. Twilight Princess (gamecube) was abysmally slow. Other Wii games are more demanding and would be even slower. Just playable enough, but not really worth it when retro emulation is just as much or even more fun. I tried out super Mario Wii on version 3.5 of dolphin, and it ran at about 70% speed (40FPS).
MULTIWINIA MODS WINDOWS
Forums suggested I try creating a new windows user and try starting the game on the account. It always came up with a "Cannont Access AppData.blah blah blah". I'm hoping the developers continue to make quick improvements on the GWG software. I created a virtual touch controller for sc2 with gestureworks gameplay, and it seemed to do everything I wanted it to, functionally, but unfortunately it was buggy and in the middle of gameplay would stop working, or create a ghost finger, etc. However, the pen on my VP11 still suffers from hover-clicks and disables touch input altogether when the pen is anywhere near the screen. On a different tablet, I used a digitizer pen to navigate the map and quickly right-click.

Panning the map is also impossible without a keyboard/mouse.
Controlling units wasn't impossible with just the touchscreen, but sc2 doesn't have buttons for the attack, hold, and patrol commands as did sc1, only keyboard shortcuts. With lowest graphics settings, play was smooth. Although it is possible to command units with the touchscreen alone, panning the map is difficult without a keyboard/mouse, and SC1 isn't supported by Gestureworks Gameplay (a rising star in the world of windows touch controllers). Although SC1 did scale vertically, it remained in a 4:3 aspect and there were black bars on the sides.
MULTIWINIA MODS DRIVERS
Go for the eyes, Boo!įinally, an Atom tablet with a graphics driver that scales! My last clover trail tablet ran SC1 but did so in a tiny box :/ Now that the Atom line uses Intel HD Graphics, we don't have to worry as much about drivers keeping us from gaming. Because it uses OpenGL, gestureworks gameplay isn't compatible (DX9+ required). Unfortunately, though, you need a mouse to zoom in and out, which isn't an essential function, but is a rather nice feature of the enhanced edition. Played perfect out of the box! Plays well with just the touch screen. Suddenly I'm jealous of the Haswell VP owners :/ The only downside is that the 2013 game uses about 10GB. Normally I wouldn't recommend a modern game at such a low resolution and FPS, but I was still able to kill bad guys with my bow and I just love the game, and even at such an abysmal setting the graphics are better than the older tomb raider games. That the game allowed such a low resolution made me laugh, but I was happy to see that it scaled down. If FPS aren't listed, assume the game runs smooth as butter. Assume lowest graphics settings for most all of these games. If you've found a game that plays well on the VP11, especially with a touchscreen, please post here. Thought I'd share my gaming experiences on the Atom VP11 so far. If one has already been started, please post a link. Didn't notice a gaming thread for the Atom VP11 yet.
